Chef Josef Centeno is about to open his third restaurant in Historic Downtown.
In addition to opening Bäco Mercat a few years ago, Chef Josef Centeno brought his culinary excellence to another downtown L.A. restaurant in 2012 called Bar Amá.
Baco Mercat, offers twelve bar seats and ten patio tables and a family-style menu of Western and Eastern-Mediterranean influences, including the “bäco,” their specialty flat bread sandwich made with crispy pork belly, beef carnitas and caraway pepper.
When visiting Bar Amá, the successful chef provides customers with the opportunity to experience “his version of Tex-Mex inspired by the memories of his family’s cooking.” One can expect to indulge in flavorful dishes fit for veggie, meat and fish lovers and of course decadent queso dip and fresh guacamole to start off the meal.
The environment is as casual as its special drink menu. Mexican liquors are infused in many of the cocktails; if tequila and mezcal are your drink preferences, this is the place for you
No sooner did Chef Centeno establish Bar Amá did he set his sights on the neighboing restaurant that used to be Rocket Pizza.
Construction is underway and it wont be long before the grand opening of Centenos’ newest restaurant takes place.
Orsa and Winston, his newest culinary adventure, named after his two beloved dogs will feature the zesty flavors of Italy no undoubtedly produced the Centeno way, with a hint of fusion and loaded with flavor. All three restaurants are within a block of each other Bar Amá and Orsa and Winston neighbor each other. While downtowners can always dine at any of Centeno’s hot spots, for those of us who cannot travel to eat with Centeno we’ll have not problem recognizing him in the pages of Bon Appetit, or on CNN.com.
